The 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, had THC in his system, an autopsy has revealed.
The revelations came to light as the prosecutors prepared to release hundreds of documents, video footage and crime scene photos pertaining to the case. Just two months ago, a massive outcry broke out throughout the nation over the death of Martin, shot to death by the volunteerGeorge Zimmerman
Zimmerman, 28, shot and killed Martin on February 26th when he was returning from a boutique. Zimmerman claimed that he acted in self-defense. At the time of the shooting, Martin was unarmed. The death provoked widespread condemnation.
According to the autopsy reports, traces of THC, Tetrahydrocannabino, the principal psychoactive constituent of the cannabis plant, was found in Martin’s urine and blood. Zimmerman, who is in custody claimed that he shot Martin from one to 18 inches away after a brief struggle.
