Apple News: New MacBook Pro gets a retina display update

The much-anticipated retina display update for the 15.4 inch MacBook Pro finally came out today, June 11, 2012. This is the first retina-display laptop that Apple has made available. It also got a new, lightweight design. At 4.46 pounds, it weighs only slightly more than the MacBook Air.

This new model also includes an SD slot, HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, Magsafe 2, two Thunderbolt slots, 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.0. It now has a backlit keyboard, a feature that many users enjoy. The newer 802.11ac wireless spec is still being developed, so keep an eye out for it in newer models.

It has a 15.4 inch retina display with 220 ppi. This makes it the laptop with the highest resolution in the world.

Other updates include an extended battery life, more storage and updated software.
