By Amanda Shore

Bob Welch, Fleetwood Mac’s former guitarist and vocalist, shot himself in the chest in his home in Nashville on Thursday, June 7, 2012. He had been having health complications recently. Mick Fleetwood, who helped found the band, stated that the apparent suicide was out of character. A suicide note was left at the scene, but its contents have not yet been disclosed.

Surprisingly, Welch isn’t the first band member to die this year. Bob Weston, also a former guitarist, died of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage.

He died at age 66.
