67th Fatal Traffic Collision In Las Vegas This Year

On July 19, 2012 at approximately 4:47 p.m., an Auto / Motorcycle traffic collision occurred on South Fort Apache Road at West Lake South Drive. Evidence at statements indicate the 1992 Honda Civic was south on Fort Apache turning left to go east on Lake South and the 2008 Honda Motorcycle was traveling straight north on Fort Apache at Lake South. The motorcycle impacted the rear passenger side door of the vehicle and then the motorcycle and rider went over the vehicle and continued north. Both vehicles had a green light at the intersection, and speed might be a factor on the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was pronounced dead at the scene. This is the 67th fatal traffic collision in LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2012. This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Accident Investigation Detail.
