Are Political Ads filled with “Factual Inaccuracies?” You Decide

By Benjamin Gaul

Welcome to the hottest season in Advertising Sales, ladies and gentlemen: Presidential Election Year. And this year is lining up to be a Doozy!

In the Blue corner, we have media darling and all around smooth talker Barrack Hussein Obama. A man of Mystery & Romance, Barrack is loved by his sycophantic base to the point of worship, and excoriated by the Radical Right as an inarticulate — when speaking off the cuff — stutterer who is a dedicated Tax & Spend Socialist/Liberal with zero experience and even fewer qualifications for the office of the Presidency. But those are just bitter people, clinging to their guns and their Bibles, and therefore suspect at best. Obama’s record, a string of unqualified successes and promises kept, is proof enough that he is more than qualified to be Leader of the Free World.

In the Red corner, we have the stinking/filthy/embarrassingly rich One Percenter Mitt Romney. Or, as he is better known, “R-Money.” A man who was foolish enough to release both his college transcripts AND tax returns (greenhorn!), have more than 2.5 children and do ACTUAL work in the Private Sector, Romney’s years of previous Executive Experience can have little to do with Real Politics. Obviously, a Robber Barron completely out of touch with the working men and women whose paychecks he signs, he still only has about one third the net worth of John F. Kerry –who purportedly served in Vietnam– the previous Media Darling whose “connection to the common man” was never questioned. Further proof of Romney’s utter lack of political savvy.

Romney, still reeling from a vicious Republican primary, has a habit of quoting the Founding Fathers on his Facebook page. As if Dead Rich White Male Slave-owners could have the slightest clue as to how the American Government should be run.

President Obama is expected to capitalize on Romney’s mishandling of the state of Massachusetts, pointing out that Mitt successfully closed the largest deficit in the state’s history without raising taxes, while fees like Marriage licenses went from $4 to $50, driving permits from $15 to $30; deed-recording fees from $25 to $100; and mortgage-recording fees from $36 to $158. That plan only charged the people of the state who were using specific services; it did NOT “spread the costs around” by forcing you pay for part of your neighbor’s house or wedding. Unconscionable and reckless governing, by anyone’s standards.

Remember that it was our fearless President Obama who made the decision to kill Osama Bin Laden. And it only took Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, David Petraeus and Jim Clapper a few weeks of intense behind-the-scenes arguing with the President and Valerie Jarrett, who believed that any military action could fail and harm the president’s already weakened standing with both the American public and the world. AND that the attack would be viewed as an act of aggression against Muslims, further destabilizing conditions in the Middle East.

Just because Obama was literally pulled from a golf outing and escorted back to the White House to be informed of the mission then placed in the situation room where several of the key players in the event had already been watching the operation unfold does NOT mean he didn’t plan the entire operation himself!

Romney will doubtless resort to dirty tactics, like pointing out Obama’s 35 “Czars” who need never be vetted by Congress, and have salaries ranging anywhere from a paltry $98,000 to $197,700. For those few whose salaries are actually known, that is.

Or he might continually harp on the number of failed Obama Administration Investments in the Green Job sector like Solar Trust of America, Bright Source, Solyndra, LSP Energy, Energy Conversion Devices, Abound Solar, SunPower, Beacon Power, Ecotality, A123 Solar, UniSolar, Azure Dynamics, Evergreen Solar and Ener1, all of which invariably went bankrupt after receiving Millions & Billions in your federal tax dollars. Romney will NEVER admit that it’s the original intent of the grants which are important, NOT the actual outcomes produced. Everyone benefits when we “spread the wealth around.”

So as this Election season unfolds, remember to look a little deeper at what the candidates are trying to tell you, and never take their statements at face value.

Rumor has it, politicians have a problem with pesky things like facts.
