Dodgers Land Hanley Ramirez

By Steve Kish

These Dodgers are in it to win it. The “it” not just being the NL
West, but the NL Pennant and ultimately the World Series. They traded
for three time all star and former National League batting champ
Hanley Ramirez in a four-player trade with the Miami Marlins

The former NL Rookie of the Year Ramirez, 28, spent his first seven
seasons with the Marlins. He expressed his emotions after being dealt
from the Marlins. “For me this day is not easy. The Marlins have been
my family, the only one I had in baseball,” Ramirez told
ESPNdeportesLosAngeles.com’s Enrique Rojas. “I will never forget who
gave me that first opportunity that every human being needs. They will
always be in my heart.”

The Dodgers are 2.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL
West. Trading for Ramirez should add immediate help to the Dodgers
offense. The Dodgers are hoping that Ramirez will be reinvigorated
while playing with Matt Kemp and  Andre Ethier. Ramirez is only
batting .247 this season. The Dodgers will use Ramirez at shortstop,
his natural position, while Dee Gordon is inactive. They will decide
what to do after Gordon returns.
