This could be the only good thing to come of Fifty Shades Of Grey: Rumors say that Emma Watson is the “frontrunner” to play Anastasia “Ana” Steele in the hotly-awaited Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
The New York Daily News is reporting that the 22-year-old is “in talks” with producers about taking on the female lead in the naughty flick based on EL James’ hit novel about a billionaire businessman who woos a college student into his kinky world of BDSM sex.
Twilight’s Kristen Stewart has also been rumored to be in the running for the Anastasia role (which would make sense since the book came out of a Twilight fan fiction page) Scarlett Johansson is also a favorite.
Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will be producing the project based on The New York Times Bestseller. They haven’t spoken on the Emma casting rumor specifically, but Brunetti sent out a recent tweet that aimed to keep the chatter in check.
“All of the rumors on #FiftyShades are just that — rumors. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first.”
