Angelina Jolie’s Daughter, Vivienne, Will Debut in Maleficent as Princess Aurora

Angelina Jolie has decided to start her daughter’s resume early. Therefore she has decided to have 4-year-old daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt join her in the Disney fantasy Maleficent.

The 37-year-old convinced the filmmakers that her daughter would best suit the role of Princess Aurora, daughter of Jolie’s character Maleficent, which is currently being shot in England.

“Angelina thought it would be a fun experience for her and Viv to share, and Viv is a natural,” thesun.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

Mother of six children, the actress will be playing the lead role in the modern tale of “Sleeping Beauty” from the evil princess’ point of view.

The other kids are now nagging Ange and Brad to land them roles,” the source said.

Thus, the Studio agreed to the inclusion of Jolie’s and Brad Pitt’s daughter in the movie.

Maleficent is a retelling of the famous story from the point of view of the titular wicked fairy.

In the seminal Charles Perrault version (titled The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood), she curses her victim to die after pricking her finger on a spindle, but another fairy uses her power to ensure the princess will merely sleep for a hundred years before being woken by a prince.

Jolie will play Maleficent in a live-action film which will examine the character’s backstory.

The movie is the latest in a torrent of children’s fantasy remakes to be green-lit by Hollywood, with two Snow White films hitting cinemas in the past year and several new takes on The Wizard of Oz being developed.

The trend was sparked by the staggering financial success of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, which took more than $1bn worldwide in 2010.

“Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne will play a minor role as the child version of Princess Aurora opposite her mother in Maleficent,”
Disney said in a statement. “The live-action film explores the origins of Disney’s most iconic villain, Maleficent, and what led her to curse Princess Aurora.”

The film, which Robert Stromberg is directing, is due to hit cinemas in March 2014. Elle Fanning will play Aurora as a teenager and the cast also includes Sharlto Copley, Miranda Richardson, Sam Riley and Imelda Staunton.

The first official shot of Jolie in costume, looking very much like the character as seen in Disney’s 1959 animated Sleeping Beauty, was released in June.

No word if Vivienne’s twin brother, Knox, is working on a movie career of his own.
