Hip Hop International, also known as the Olympics of Hip Hop dance, is known for its insane talent and highly skilled dancers. Each year, Red Rock Casino has the privilege to host the event. Hip Hop International is a national dance competition where crews from over the world come together to share their passion for dance. Over forty countries take action in this live event, including children, teens, and adults who travel from their country all the way to Las Vegas to represent their country.
Not only is Hip Hop International known for its competition, but it’s also famous for its Urban Workshop classes and its Popping, Locking and Bboy battles. As Olivia “Chachi” Gonzales from America’s Best Dance Crew said, “It was amazing teaching the Urban moves workshop and that the students were positive and to go in there and learn something from them.” As for Hip Hop International itself, Chachi says “you learn something new from each country and get see the amazing talent from each country.”
Every year at Hip Hop International the competition gains difficulty. Joey from the 2011 USA champions Elektrolytes says “we love the opportunity of coming out here and going against the world.” One member from the Academy of Swag says “The say the experience is amazing. Everyone has so much pride from where they come from.”
This year, the Bubblegum crew from New Zealand took gold in the junior division. In the varsity division, Sol.T.Shine from Japan walked away with gold as well. In the adult division, gold was rewarded to the Philippines Crew.
Hip Hop International proves that hip hop dance continues to make an impact all throughout the world, from differing countries and even religions.
