Anyone that watched the dissolution of the Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt relationship has to tip their hat to the 43-year-old “Friends” star. At the time of her split with Pitt, Aniston was 35 and very much distraught over the breakup. After seven years together, four of them as husband and wife, Pitt was ready to call it quits. At the time, headlines gave him the benefit of the doubt. Media outlets went along with the story that he desired to start a family, while Aniston was reportedly unwilling.
By May, the two had a different excuse as to why they hadn’t reconciled. This time Politics was in the way. Reportedly, Aniston was Republican, while Pitt sided with the democrats.
On the May 25, 2005, the “Dance with Shadows” website reported that Aniston was quite shaken after picking up an extension phone in her palatial Hollywood home, only to hear intimate conversations, and euphemism for sex talk between the Angelina Jolie and the once voted sexiest man in the universe. Jennifer cried foul and that was the end of the four-and-a-half year marriage of Hollywood’s most talked about celebrity couple.
Though that was more than seven years ago, it is fitting that on the weekend Aniston and Justin Theroux announce their decision to tie the knot, just happens to be the same weekend Pitt and Jolie were to be wed. Now how’s that for a coincidence.
Aniston decided to accept Theroux’s marriage proposal on his 41st birthday, Friday, August 10. Sources say, he was so ecstatic that he spread the news like wild fire.
The two have known each other for years, but started dating a year ago after working on the comedy Wanderlust.
The two moved in together and tabloids soon began predicting everything from marriage to babies for the new couple.
It will be Aniston’s second marriage and Theroux’s first.
While Pitt moved on to a long-term relationship with Angelina Jolie, Aniston had high-profile relationships with John Mayer and Vince Vaughn.
Her engagement comes four months after Pitt and Jolie announced their intentions to tie the knot.
Screenwriter and actor Theroux – whose screenwriting credits include Tropic Thunder, Iron Man 2 and Rock Of Ages.
Aniston’s rep, Stephen Huvane, confirmed the engagement on Sunday night to The Associated Press. It was first reported by People.com.
Aniston is currently filming “We’re the Millers” with Jason Sudeikis. Theroux has been hired to write and direct ‘Zoolander 2,” the sequel to Ben Stiller’s beloved male model spoof.
The couple, who have been dating since May 2011, were last seen together on their tour of Europe in June. The “Friends” star whisked her man away on a romantic break to Paris, followed by a luxury stay on the island of Capri.
