TMZ is now reporting that Lindsay Lohan is now a formal suspect in the theft of 100,000 worth of watches and sunglasses that were stolen from the Hollywood Hills home of Sam Magid last week. Sam called the LAPD to report mission jewelry after a group including Lindsay partied at his home.
Lindsay Lohan appears to be caught up in suspicious activity. Although to be fair, it’s too early to draw conclusions, especially since LAPD has the case still under investigation; but the situation does not look good for the actress. The 26-year-old movie star was interviewed by police on Monday to help police with the investigation into an alleged theft at a house party over the weekend.
The actress was among a group of people helping cops with their inquiries after some expensive jewelry allegedly went missing from a home in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills on Sunday, according to TMZ.com.
The website reports the owner of the property made a complaint to police on the morning after the house party and officers interviewed everyone who stayed the night there, including the “Mean Girls” actress.
The star is said to have been very co-operative and insisted she had nothing to do with the missing gems.
This is awfully familiar turf for Lindsay Lohan. The star, who was victimized by the notorious Bling Ring in 2009 and accused of swiping jewelry from an L.A. store two years later.
Lohan was notoriously charged with felony grand theft in February for allegedly pilfering a necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store. She was later sentenced to 120 days in jail and 480 hours of community service.
The star hasn’t necessarily been keeping a low profile since her comeback bid: She’s been involved in a frightening fender-bender, reportedly crashed Francesca Eastwood’s birthday bash and was found unconscious from exhaustion in a hotel room. Never a dull moment with LiLo, that’s for sure.
Despite the news, Lohan’s rep is reportedly claiming, “Contrary to reports, Lindsay was never formally questioned by police in connection with this incident. There are all kinds of stories floating around about what may or may not have happened, who was or was not there and what, if anything, was missing from the house. We will defer to the police to determine what actually occurred, if anything, instead of speculating without any concrete facts. Also, Lindsay’s trip to New York was planned about a week before this alleged incident.”
TMZ is reporting that officials made it clear, “The Canyons” star was not being considered a suspect – moreover, the owner of the stolen goods later went back to police and retracted his story. Nevertheless, TMZ is standing by their earlier story which claims that Lohan is, in fact, being formally investigated.
Sources told the site that law enforcement officials have “independent witnesses” who can pinpoint Lohan as having been involved in the crime.
LAPD detectives contacted lawyers for Lohan yesterday, asking for an interview with the two suspects, but were rejected, TMZ added.
Lohan is also being investigated for lying to police after a car crash in which she said she was just a passenger in the car. Cops think she was the driver. TMZ says the case will be referred to prosecutors and the L.A. City Attorney for a possible probation violation.
