(WXIA) — Officials with Carmike Cinemas were responding Friday morning to reports of bomb threats at their theater locations across the nation Friday morning.

Officials said a bomb threat was called into Carmike’s corporate offices in Columbus Friday morning, claiming multiple bombs had been planted in theater locations across the country.

According to information received by our sister newspaper in Nashville, The Tennessean, the bomb threat came from a Hispanic rights organization that claimed there was a bomb threat in nine Carmike theaters across the United States.

Bomb sniffing dogs have been sent to theaters across the nation by local law enforcement agencies as a precaution.

11Alive’s Skycam caught images of fire department crews outside the Carmike location in Snellville — staffers were outside as crews were investigating the area around the theater.

Calls to other Carmike locations around Metro Atlanta have gone unanswered thus far.
