Has Amanda Bynes finally hit rock bottom? Well, according to Kimberly Gail, a contributor to ehow.com, there are four common signs that you’ve hit rock bottom, recognizing them is an important part of getting back on your feet; but in Amanda’s case, let’s just say getting back her BMW. Hence, this article will describe and explain four important signs that indicate Amanda Bynes has hit rock bottom.
To clarify, what it means to hit rock bottom, let’s look at an anonymous article of a recent rock bottom victim. Anonymous writes: “In the past year I have had to file bankruptcy so 75% of my wages were being garnished or I would lose my house. I got a DUI and have a warrant out for my arrest for not paying my fine. I am illegally driving a car with no insurance. My middle child does not want to live with me. I just lost my job because they found out and I didn’t go to rehab because I don’t want to quit and never did. I lost my four best friends because now they know, so I have isolated myself from them instead of letting them help me. I never bought my son anything for his 16th birthday or Christmas. I have lied so much that it is all starting to catch up to me. But hey I have my last vacation checks coming in so I can still order more pods – YEAH for me but then again I only have one more check coming.” Has anonymous hit rock bottom; perhaps almost. Once this victim spends the last check, rock bottom should settle in. Why? Because as the saying goes, you’ve hit rock bottom when there’s nowhere else to go but up.
Interestingly, anonymous has pointed to circumstances that almost perfectly resemble some of Bynes’ struggles.
So has the “Hairspray” star hit rock bottom? We’re getting there, but first let’s review the four common signs laid out by Kimberly Gail, that a person has reached rock bottom and compare them with Amanda Bynes’ current circumstances.
Losing your job: This begs the question; does Amanda Bynes have a job?
A cursory Google search revealed that back on April 6, 2012, Bynes tweeted that she was ending her acting career at the ripe old age of 24, according to “The Daily Beast.” “Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem,” she tweeted. “If I don’t love something, I stop doing it. I don’t love acting anymore, so I’ve stopped doing it.”
Gail says that losing you job is one of the signs you’ve hit rock bottom, and she goes on to explain why: “the average person needs some sort of income to make ends meet…, [therefore] losing a job… means losing access to the basics necessary for survival, which include food, clothing and shelter. Gail adds that whether you’re struggling with substance abuse or dealing with a financial crisis, losing your job is one of four major signs you’ve hit bottom.
Abandoned by friends and loved ones. It’s not clear if Bynes’ friends have abandoned the former Nickelodeon child star, but radaronline.com has reported that “Amanda’s friends have grown increasingly concerned about her and are urging her to go to rehab.”
“Amanda has been in a downward spiral for the last six months. Even though her dad publicly said she doesn’t drink, he knows she has a problem. It’s truly sad to witness. Amanda has been told she must go to rehab, but she is refusing to go,” the source told RadarOnline.com.
The New York Post also reported that her friends are concerned because she is not the Amanda they know.”
Kimberly Gail explains: “If you are struggling with substance abuse, mental illness or some other crisis, you might eventually notice the people in your life pulling away. Friends and loved ones might have a difficult time watching someone they love self-destruct; especially if it seems that you can make the choice to turn your own circumstances around.
But what it sounds like with Amanda, is that she is not interested in changing. When you consider that her actions suggests she is perfectly happy, smoking pot, driving illegally, not working and not going to rehab, Bynes has a lot in common with our “Anonymous” writer.
The third sign on Gail’s list, indicating you’ve hit rock bottom is: Having property repossessed.
Amanda Bynes reached that threshold at 9:00 a.m. Sunday Sept. 16 when law enforcement impounded her BMW according to TMZ. Their sources say that cops impounded the vehicle and issued her a misdemeanor ticket for driving on a suspended license.
Gail tells us that having possessions you once worked hard to acquire, such as your car or home, taken away is a sobering reality check.
Gail states that the experience of stress and depression represent the fourth and last sign that a person has hit rock bottom. She explains that “The series of events that lead you to hit rock bottom can take a toll on your mental, emotional and physical health.
The fourth sign will tend to immobilize a rock bottom victim, making it hard to carry out simple task, such as getting out of bed or spending time with other. At this point, I am unaware if Bynes has experienced the characteristics of this sign. Nevertheless, according to Gail, it is not necessary to experience all four signs for one to hit rock bottom.
In closing, let’s review Bynes’ experiences over the last several months. .
The 26-year-old actress was arrested around 3 a.m. on April 6 in West Hollywood. Authorities said her black BMW struck the rear corner of the sheriff’s vehicle. Don’t just gloss right by that statement of fact. How many of you have struck the rear of a police car; that’s what I figured.
Now it’s one thing to be charged with driving under the influence, and it’s another to refuse a Breathalyzer or blood-alcohol test; Bynes was guilty of both and as a result had her license suspended.
Following the arrest and suspension of her driver’s license, Amanda Bynes tweeted President Obama on Twitter, which read “Hey@BarackObama… I don’t drink.” The actress continued on Twitter, writing: “Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run.” Now I’m not a professional psychiatrist, but let me ask you; is it reasonable to conclude that she’s on a downward spiral to the bottom.
I said at the time, if Bynes doesn’t drink than she’s got to be smoking something because from the looks of her tweeted message to President Obama, she certainly can’t be well; and before I could publish my argument, TMZ compiles a gallery of over 20 pictures showing Bynes smoking the good stuff out of a cigarette lighter pipe in her BMW. Now we have substance abuse.
In recent weeks, LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division investigated the Aug. 4 incident on Ventura Boulevard, in which a motorist said a vehicle driven by Bynes rear-ended and damaged her Toyota on Ventura Boulevard. The driver said Bynes stopped only briefly, declared there was no damage and drove off. And I’m not the only one that questions Bynes’ normality. In a new interview with the victim, named only as Kisa, she claims that the actress was behind the wheel of the black BMW which rear-ended her Volvo last month.
“Someone could have died if [Bynes] kept driving,’ she told TMZ. ‘A normal person would not get away with hit and runs and she shouldn’t either.” As her trouble mount up, they clearly have to be taking their toll on the actress.
The “She’s the Man” star was pulled over again last Thursday night, just a day after a judge ordered her to hand over her car keys following a string of driving disasters. Now mind you, she’s driving on a suspended license, nevertheless, Amanda allegedly got back behind the wheel and was caught up in a minor collision in a parking lot on Sunset Boulevard.
According to TMZ, the Hairspray star’s car tapped the bumper of another vehicle, but the drivers decided not to exchange details. I know you’ve got to be thinking, get the girl some help.
In addition, the New York Daily News asserts that “pot, booze, ad a pipe might not be the only things responsible for Amanda Bynes’ recent string of bad behavior behind the wheel.” They argue that the former child star has been spotted displaying signs of mental illness.
The Daily News further alleges, Bynes has scared members of her expensive West Hollywood gym in recent weeks. She went to the Equinox gym Thursday looking dazed and talking to herself, apparently asking and then answering her own questions, one source said.
Between bursts on the elliptical, Bynes also made a habit of suddenly stopping to break into hysterical laughter “for no reason,” another source told the site. In fact, TMZ in corroboration has stated that they witness the very same behavior reported by the “Daily News.”
LAPD. Lt. Andrew Neiman of the Los Angeles Police Department said investigators determined that the Toyota Bynes hit, had about $800 in damage, and the actress did not notify police or exchange insurance information as required by law. He said detectives will forward those findings to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, which will decide whether to prosecute the matter, possibly as a hit-and-run case. Doesn’t this sound a lot like our “Anonymous writer cited at the beginning of this article?
When you consider the combined sum of her recent experiences if Amanda Bynes has not already hit rock bottom, it’s not far away.
