Las Vegas NV: Fatal Collision Intersection of Craig Road and Decatur Blvd.

COLLISION DETAILS:
On September 4, 2012 at approximately 10:38 a.m., a Pick-up / Ambulance roll over traffic collision occurred in
the intersection of Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada. Witness statements and evidence
at the scene indicate a 2009 Medicwest Ambulance was travel ing west on Craig Road in the intersection
Decatur Boulevard with the siren and red/blue l ights active. The 2003 Nissan Frontier was traveling south on
Decatur Boulevard and entered the intersection with Craig Road on a green light. The f ront of the Nissan
Frontier struck the right side of the Ford Ambulance. The impact caused the Ford Ambulance to roll over onto
the left side of the ambulance. The driver of the Nissan Frontier was transported to UMC Trauma with minor
injuries and later released. There was a paramedic and an EMT from the North Las Vegas Fire Department
aboard the Ambulance at the time of the coll ision. The NLV FD paramedic and EMT along with the two
Medicwest personnel were all transported to UMC Trauma with minor injuries and later released. There was
also a 63 year old female that was being transported in the ambulance at the time of the coll ision. The 63 year
old female was transported to Mountain View Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. It i s unknown
at this time if the 63 year old female died as a result of injuries sustained from the colli sion or f rom some
other medical condi tion. This coll ision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Accident Investigation
Section.
