Eva Longoria best known for portraying Gabrielle Solis on the ABC television series Desperate Housewives must have a thing for athletes.
The pint-sized “Desperate Housewives” star confirmed Thursday she’s got a new beau: Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.
“Mark and I are, you know, fine. We’re happy — just dating,” Longoria, 37, told “Extra” host Mario Lopez.
But it took a bit of prying to get the actress to open up, and she jokingly called Lopez an “a–hole” before admitting she’s playing the field with Sanchez, 25.
Lopez busts out a New York Post with a headline that reads, “Mark and Eva Celebrate.” Instantly, you can see Longoria try to sidestep the inevitable.
Lopez tries to give her an obvious out, before Longoria decided to confirm the report.
Rumors surfaced over the summer that the two were seeing one another — at one point spotted grocery shopping together in Bedminster, N.J., near where Sanchez owns a home.
Longoria split from Eduardo Cruz – whose sister is actress Penelope Cruz – in June and their romance was revealed in February 2011.
She finalized her divorce from Tony Parker in January 2011 after he was caught cheating less than four years into the marriage.
Sanchez has been previously linked to actress Hayden Panettiere and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
He was most recently rumored to be dating Victoria’s Secret model Kate Upton.
He told GQ magazine in September 2011: “I can’t help but want somebody that’s, I don’t know, athletic. Family is big. My mum has to love her. I mean, love her. Somebody who can handle all this. . . because I’m still learning.
Cynically, I think, ‘Okay, how is this person going to help me with a Super Bowl?'”
While Longoria declined to go into detail about her relationship with Sanchez, she did divulge why she’s a devoted member of Gang Green.
“I’m a big fan of the Jets because they have the best center in the NFL, Nick Mangold,” she said on “Extra.”
Longoria, who’ll co-host the 2012 ALMA Awards next week with comedian George Lopez, was a featured speaker at last week’s Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. But, she told Mario Lopez, she doesn’t see politics in her future.
“I think the power is in the citizen. … We all have the power to vote,” she said. “That’s the real power — being a
As for Sanchez, 25, something tells me he would like to savor this week a little more. After a lackluster preseason and a horrible start in the season opener, he exploded for 266 yards and three touchdowns.
At least for one week, the discussion wasn’t about Tim Tebow, but Sanchez and his dominance on the field.
Now he can add a lovely lady by his side to the positive things people will have to discuss.
For Jets fans, the hope is the goodwill lasts.
Just weeks earlier The Post snapped an exclusive photo of the pair enjoying dinner near Sanchez’s Bedminster, NJ home.
I am sure this news alleviates at least 50 percent of the stress built up around the nation over the last decade.
