Two dead in workplace shooting in Minneapolis; 3 others in critical condition

Two people are dead in an apparent workplace shooting in Minneapolis 3 others are in critical condition after a shooting at a business.

The victims were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with gunshot wounds.

People who work at businesses on the block tell KSTP they see many police officers on the scene with guns drawn.

Brooklyn Park Police tell KSTP.com its SWAT team is assisting in the incident in Minneapolis.

Officers arrived outside Accent Signage Systems Inc. on the 2300 block of Chestnut Ave. W. around 4:45 p.m. to find the door propped open and several shooting victims inside.

Police are searching for the shooter as they try to help victims.

Sources told FOX 9 the shooter is known to police and was terminated from his job Thursday morning.

Hennepin County Medical Center confirms they are treating at least three victims from the shooting, all three in critical condition.

The area of the reported shooting is Chestnut Ave. between Penn Ave. N. and Queen Ave. N. This is an area bordered by Interstate 394, Highway 55 and Theo Wirth Park.

“Very sad situation in Bryn Mawr,” Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak posted on Twitter. “Please stay away and let the police do their work.”
