“Dancing With The Stars” Occupational Hazard for Melissa Rycroft

Who Knew, “Dancing With The Stars” could be an occupational hazard; surely not the extraordinary former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Melissa Rycroft. But as fate would have it, Rycroft was sent to a Los Angeles hospital in an ambulance Sunday afternoon after she suffered a minor head and neck injury during rehearsals for Monday night’s show, according to E! News.

Rycroft suffered the fall during camera blocking that resulted in the injury. With her competition future in doubt, the TV personality was disappointed about her prospects of returning to victory evaluation and treatment.

The 29-year-old reality was accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Tye Strickland, and her dance partner, Tony Dovolani.

Sources present at the “Dancing with the Stars” CBS studio say “The Bachelor” star was performing the Tango when the incident occurred.

Although few details have emerged, Melissa’s pro dance partner, DWTS mainstay Tony Dovolani, took to Twitter to request prayers and positive thoughts following the accident: “Really concerned about @MelissaRycroft….. we don’t know if we are dancing tomorrow !!!!! Please keep us in your prayers #trouper”

If medically cleared to compete, Melissa and Tony will perform two dances on Monday, with Freestyle team routine featuring celebs Shawn Johnson, Sabrina Bryan, Apolo Ohno and their partners.

To date, Melissa and Tony have performed well during their tenure on the amped-up, ultra-competitive season of the hit reality show. They’ve impressed the judges with their dynamic moves, and have so far managed to avoid the dreaded bottom two. It would be a true shame to see Melissa sidelined by injury, but it’d be an even bigger shame to see her risk additional physical harm by competing if it’s not in her best interest.

She is one of eight remaining celebrities competing on the all-stars edition of the ballroom dance competition.

There is no word on whether Rycroft will be able to compete on Monday, when the couples are expected to dance twice, performing an individual routine and a team freestyle routine. Presently, Rycroft is wearing a knee brace.

I hope Melissa is really feeling well because she could really hurt herself even if she doesn’t feel it because of her medication. It is a real shame that this happened because the All-Star season is so competitive that any little thing could cost her a shot at the Mirror Ball. She looked fine in the group dance, but I think she should try and take it as easy as possible since there is not going to be an elimination this week. I missed the show because I was working late at DISH last night, but thankfully my Hopper recorded it for Primetime Anytime. Having it record everything on the four major networks without having to set any timers is such a lifesaver. I am horrified to think that I almost missed Gilles dance because it is one of those that I will be watching for years.
