COLLEGE PARK, Ga.- Police have arrested 52-year-old, Floyd Palmer, the suspected gunman who shot and killed 39-year-old Greg McDowell inside World Changers International Church, Wednesday morning.

Police say suspect was a former facilities maintenance employee for the church up until August of this year.

Palmer was reportedly apprehended at Lenox Mall in Atlanta, GA.

McDowell, Palmer’s only victim was a church volunteer who was leading a prayer service for about 20 people at the church when he was shot.

Police say shooting occurred just before the 10 a.m. service, that’s when Palmer entered the chapel Wednesday morning and began shooting before fleeing the scene.

Police, citing witnesses, said Palmer entered the church calmly, shot the victim, and calmly left the building.

All children were evacuated from the daycare area. Local reporters say there was a bible study planned for 10 a.m.

World Changers Church is home to more than 30,000 members.

A police spokeswoman said she didn’t know whether the victim was targeted specifically, and she didn’t know whether Palmer knew the victim.

The church does have a morning service, but Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester said she didn’t know whether the service was in progress at the time of the shooting.
