TWO ARRESTS MADE IN DEATH OF KITTENS

On October 18, 2012, officers of the LVMPD Enterprise Area Command Problem Solving Unit arrested two 11 year-old juveniles for their involvement in cruelty toward a mother cat and the death of her 6 newborn kittens. On October 9, 2012 at approximately 5:00 p.m. neighbors in the area of the 9600 block of W. Russell Road were alerted to the sound of breaking glass at a near-by apartment building. Witnesses reported observing two juveniles throwing rocks against a building. The juveniles were last seen running from the area. It was later discovered the juveniles were throwing rocks at a cat giving birth, ultimately the 6 kittens died. Clark County Animal Control began an investigation which was later turned over to the LVMPD Enterprise Area Command Problem Solving Unit. As a result of the investigation, officers identified two 11year-old juveniles as the suspects in this incident. The juveniles were taken into custody on October 18, 2012. They were transported and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Hall.
