MAN DISCOVERED DECEASED IN RESIDENCE

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
On Monday, November 26, 2012 at approximately 9:30 a.m. a LVMPD Patrol Officer was hailed by a citizen near the intersection of North Jones Boulevard and West Smoke Ranch Road. The citizen advised they were concerned for the safety of a man in a residence nearby and requested the officer conduct a welfare check. Patrol Officers responded to the residence in a condominium complex in the
1900 block of North Torrey Pines Drive. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered a male deceased from what appeared to be blunt force trauma. As a result of the investigation by LVMPD Homicide Detectives, a warrant was issued for 32 year old Richard Heron Junior of Las Vegas in connection with this crime. On Monday, November 26th, Heron was taken into custody in Sheridan, Arkansas and is awaiting extradition proceedings. He is charged with one count of Murder with a Deadly Weapon. The identity of the victim as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. This incident currently remains under investigation.
