iPad Mini - iPad 4 - iPhone5: Lots of Choices - What's Best?

Apple’s iPad mini is the latest and fourth generation iPad. It was released in the month of October, 2012. The new iPad has just about everything from the previous iPad. Its prices vary 16GB for $499, 32GB for $599 and 64 GB for $699. It has a faster A6X processor which adds extra system and graphics. With iPad mini Cellular data options and 4G connectivity LTE are also available for a low price and for the very first Apple is offering sprint technology network in the US which is compatible with the iPad model. Truly Apple hasn’t done much to make a difference between the latest iPad and the older versions; even the case looks the similar.

The important change which needs to be mentioned on the latest iPad is found on the inside, which is in the form of the A6X speedy chip. This A6X chip is advertised to make its performance double on the recent iPad. But according to many this is not the sufficient enough upgrade.

Even the design of the latest iPad from the apple has not been done in the fourth generation from its predecessor. It has the same weight, size, the same form factor and also the unchanged good-looking retina display. Attractive cover accessory is also not changed. The one good thing to make note of course is that the latest iPad from the Apple is having the smaller lightning port connector at the bottom, instead of 30 pin dock connector. It is really difficult to get the excited experience of lightning on the latest fourth generation iPad. This lightening connector has a very good experience on the previous devices of Apple products like iPhone 5, iPod Nano, and iPod touch.

Apple has not chosen to create any dock accessories for the recent iPad fourth generation. It is definitely going to bother some of the users. Fortunately Apple has updated the SD card and USB adapter accessory to go with the fresh lightning connector. This new feature can be used by the user for editing videos and photos. The Apple iPad mini does ship with the advanced amperage charger which will take less time to recharge the huge battery that is found on the device. This is also having good upgraded face Time camera which is 1.2 megapixels. It is an important upgrade and will have better performance when compared to the previous generation models.

The performance of the fourth generation iPad outshines the previous models. The new processor A6X which is used in this is enormous, and it doubles the performance of processor A5X that is used in the predecessor third generation iPad.

The technical features of this iPad are 1 gigabyte of RAM, and its processor ARMv7 are clocked at the 1.39 gigahertz. Its operating system is IOS 6. Its display type is a capacitive touch screen, with the 9.7 inches. It is protected from the resistant glass which is scratch resistant with the oleophobic coating. The camera is 5MP with pixels 2592*1944, Geo tagging, Autofocus, face detection etc. The sensors used are Accelerometers, compass, and gyro. It is available in white and black colours. It can be continuously used for ten hours browsing on the internet through WI-Fi, watch videos and listen music on the internet.

I always find it interesting that no one will say a bad word about the performance of any Apple device yet each new generation seems to need a big boost in processing power. Was the previous generation really that bad that it needs double the performance, and if the old one really was so limited why did people queue round the block to get it!

    Gotta love marketing!

The reason for more processing power is obvious, 1 they can get you to buy another phone, and 2 they will find reasons for you to use that speed as well as the ram.

Wow!! I’m French, English is not my first language and I’m shocked with the mistakes Miss Knutson makes in this article :/

“A6X processor which adds extra system and graphics” I’m glad to know it has extra system lol

I think the author of this article would be better off staying within the seedy world of PPI claims rather than trying to comment on Apple products… and writing in her native tongue as she has a great problem with the English language…

That the author is from the UK only baffles me further, as the English language is utterly destroyed in this article. Does the Guardian not have any editors, really? This article is total garbage.

The iPad mini is by far the best tablet experience yet. The app richness is what wins the day. The form factor is much nicer than my Nexus 7 when comparing the two. The screen is wider, bigger and yet thinner than the Nexus 7. Well worth spending $329 to get better app ecosystem, awesome games, airplay control to your TV if using AppleTV, smaller and thinner, yet bigger, and the quality is beyond epic with great person-to person support. Oh and it looks awesome too.

I agree the iPad Mini has been a surprising revelation and I use it more than my regular iPad now (first world problems!!). The screen is WAY too reflective at the moment so hopefully in the next refresh cycle they will make the screen less reflective.

If you’re going for a smaller tablet then the Nexus 7 is your best bet for the money you pay and the hardware you get. The iPad mini was made largely as a result of how well the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire are doing, but it suffers from higher costs and significantly lower screen resolution.
