Las Vegas: LVMPD patrol units arrest suspect who shot at security officers

Security Officers Interrupted Crime in Progress On December 6, 2012 at approximately 2:57 a.m. LVMPD Patrol Officers responded to the 3000 block of South Industrial Road to investigate reports a suspect
who had fired shots at Circus Circus Security personnel was in the area. Arriving officers located Joshua Olvera, 22 years of age of Las Vegas, who was arrested at the scene without incident. The investigation by LVMPD Violent Crimes Detectives revealed security officers on routine patrol inside of the Circus Circus parking garage had interrupted an auto burglary in progress. The suspect fled on foot, and fired several rounds from a handgun at three security officers during his escape. Circus Circus security officers did not return fire, and no one was injured during this incident. Security officers were able to maintain visual contact with Olvera, and assisted LVMPD patrol officers in locating and identifying the suspect.Olvera was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, charged with:Attempted murder with a weapon, three counts, and Burglary with a weapon.
