Las Vegas: Robbery Attempt Results In Death of Suspect

On December 24, 2012 at approximately 10:12 a.m. LVMPD Patrol Officers responded to the La Ventana apartment complex located at 2901 North Rainbow Boulevard to investigate numerous reports of shots being fired. Arriving officers discovered an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. This individual was transported by medical personnel to the UMC Trauma Center where he was pronounced deceased. Additionally, officers encountered a male and female adult who were residents of the complex, and who had also sustained minor injuries from apparent blunt force trauma.

A preliminary investigation indicates three adult males armed with handguns accompanied by a female suspect, had knocked on the door of an apartment within the complex. When the resident answered the door, these four individuals forced their way inside of the dwelling and attempted to rob the male and female occupants. During this attempt both of the apartment’s occupants were beaten by the intruders, however no property is believed to have been taken.

When the four suspects fled the apartment the male and female occupants both retrieved handguns and followed the suspects into the parking lot where a second confrontation occurred. During this second confrontation the occupants of the
residence discharged their handguns, striking the deceased individual multiple times. The remaining two male suspects and the female suspect then fled the area in a silver 2002 Infiniti which was recovered a short time later inside of the apartment complex parking lot. These suspects remain at large.

The identity of the deceased individual, along with the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident, and the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with any information concerning this crime should contact the LVMPD Homicide Section at 828-3521, or Crime Stoppers by phone at 385-5555 or on
