Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Multiple injuries including a teacherNewtown, Connecticut – Swat team on the scene in Newtown, Connecticut responded to a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Friday morning, according the local NBC station reports.

Police reported multiple injuries, including a wounded teacher, according to the Hartford Courant.

Police reportedly are going room by room searching for shooter.

The scene is very active as choppers are circling the school.

Dozens of ambulance set up on the scene.

State police say they are assisting local police the situation in Newtown amid reports of the shooting.

The school superintendent’s office says the district has locked down schools as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The superintendent’s secretary, Kathy June, says reports of a shooting are not confirmed.

State police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance says they have a number of personnel on the scene to assists.

Reports that their are at least one shooter perhaps two.

Law enforcement is presently trying to identify the shooter
