Abby Wambach is FIFA’s player of the year
Abby Wambach has added another honor to her resume and that’s, FIFA Women’s player of the year something no American player has done in a decade. Now with this award Abby can add to her gold medal she won with the US Women’s National team at the 2012 London games. During the 2012 games Abbey Wambach scored five goals, giving her a total of 152 international goals. Abbey Wambach is now just six short of Mia Hamm’s record.
Abby Wambach won player of the year honors as she beat out teammate Alex Morgan and five time winner, Brazilian Marta. Fellow American and team mate Hope Solo presented Abby with her player of the year honor.
Also recieving honors was U.S. Women’s coach Pia Sundhage who recived the top women’s coach honor. Pia Sundhage coached the US women’s team to gold last summer.
