Beyonce, Myrlie Evers- Williams to attend inauguration
Beyonce has been tapped to perform at President Obama’s second term inauguration, this time she will have the honor in performing the National Anthem at the ceremony. Also to take the stage will be Kelly Clarkson who will sing the tune made famous by Aretha Franklin, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.” Also look for folk star James Taylor to sing “America the beautiful.”
Also to attend to the inauguration is the widow of Medgar Evers, Myrlie Evers-Williams as she will be delivering the invocation at the ceremony. She will be the first woman and first non-clergy memeber to have this honor for a presidential inauguration as conservative evangelical Rev. Louie Giglio will deliver the benediction.
“I am humbled to have been asked to deliver the invocation for the 57th inauguration of the President of the United States—especially in light of this historical time in America when we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement,” Myrlie Evers-Williams said in a statement.
President Obama’s second term inauguration is set to take place January 21 at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol but President Obama is actually sworn into office a day before (January 20th.)
