CHICAGO – Chicago Police arrested and charged a Southwest Side man after he was observed firing a handgun into the street late Thursday night. While on patrol on the 4800 block of South Kedzie, at approximately 9:45 p.m. on January, 24th, Chicago Lawn (008th) District officers observed Edgar Jasso armed with a handgun, firing several shots into the street while standing in the doorway of his residence. Chicago: Arrest armed felon in Brighton ParkUpon seeing police, Jasso fled into his home and locked himself in, prompting officers to immediately surround the premises and call for assisting units, thereby ensuring that the armed offender could not escape the scene. Roughly 20 minutes after locking himself in his home, Jasso exited and was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the premises resulted in the recovery of two handguns.
Edgar Jasso, 29, of the 4800 block of South Kedzie Ave, is a convicted felon currently on
parole. In addition to having a warrant issued for a parole violation, Jasso was charged with one felony count of Unlawful Use of Weapon by a Felon and one felony count of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. Jasso is scheduled to appear in bond court on January 26th, 2013.
