Chicago Police Charge Man In Murder Investigation

Man Who Fired Shots in Front of a Hospital Charged in Homicide

CHICAGO- Chicago Police charged a man today with First Degree Murder for the incident that occurred in the 9th District (Deering) last April.

Joseph Sanders, 20, of the 2400 block of West 35th St. was charged with First Degree Murder.

On April 21st, 2012, Sanders approached the victim on foot through a large vacant lot near Saint Anthony’s Hospital. While he approached, he fired several gunshots into an occupied minivan that was waiting in front, striking the victim inside in the head. The victim, a 26 year-old man, died as a result of his injuries. As police conducted their investigation, they interviewed multiple witnesses who positively identified Sanders as the offender in this incident. Joseph Sanders was then arrested by Chicago Police Detectives and consequently charged with First Degree Murder.

Joseph Sanders was scheduled to appear in bond court on today’s date.
