Goodell Gets the Best of Vilma in the End, Lawsuit Dismissed

jonathan-vilma-saintsA federal judge has dismissed Jonathan Vilma’s defamation lawsuit versus Roger Goodell, the NFL’s commissioner. This news was released via twitter by Greg Aiello, the league’s spokesman.

Vilma was suing Goodell as he was named the ring leader in the New Orleans Saints Bountygate. It was said that Vilma led the way in the pay players for injuring or knocking opposing opponents out of the game. After being suspended for an entire season the ban was lifted and Vilma could play, then the ban was enforced yet again, until Paul Tagliabue overturned it once and for all.

“Even though this matter has been pending only since May of this year, it feels as protracted and painful as the Saints’ season itself and calls for closure,” Berrigan said, according to WWL Television in New Orleans. By Steve Kish
