Senator Ron Johnson (R), of Wisconsin asked the same months old question as to why the attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi. He, like the majority of his constituents continue to beat a dead horse, asking why at first they were told it began as a protest, and later that it was a terrorist attack.
Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, is testifying today about the September 11th attack. Her response to Johnson was : “But with all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans – was it because of a protest, or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided they’d go kill some Americans.” Thumping the table four times, she added: “What difference, at this point, does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, senator.”
Mrs. Clinton took the blame for the ill-prepared embassy in which 4 Americans were killed including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
She will testify before the House, an even more hostile group, in the afternoon.
The unprovoked Libyan attack was horrific. Any loss of American life is unacceptable. I ask my ‘same old question’, why weren’t Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld grilled with the same fervor when we invaded a sovereign country under false pretenses? Why wasn’t Bush impeached when he lied to congress and the American people in his “State of the Union” address? Why was he forgiven for the loss of thousands of American lives, and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi lives, and placing the country in financial ruin by waging two unnecessary wars?
I know I’ll never have those answers in my lifetime. Republicans will shield “W” from continuing scrutiny.
