Joining Forces Super DUI Checkpoint

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” sponsored by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety. Officers from all over Southern Nevada including Officers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Henderson Police Department, North Las Vegas Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder City Police Department and Paiute Tribal Police Department will take part in this multi-jurisdictional event to focus on both drug and/or alcohol impaired drivers in the hope of reducing the impact of impaired drivers during the Super Bowl Weekend.

The checkpoint will be conducted on Sunday February 3, 2013 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. The location selected for this checkpoint will be Boulder Highway and Mayorga, which has shown to be a high traffic area for accidents and impaired drivers.

The checkpoint will focus on identifying drug and alcohol impaired drivers to include juveniles, young adults, and older adults, before they get involved in a collision, thereby increasing the safety for all Southern Nevada motorists.

This event symbolizes the commitment of the Joining Forces Agencies toward reducing the number of DUI incidents and decreasing the number of alcohol related traffic collisions as well as alcohol related traffic fatalities.
