Las Vegas: Officers find three people slain in family home

On Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at approximately 4:20 p.m. the LVMPD Dispatch Center received a call of possible shots being fired inside of a residence located in the 2200 block of La Sombra Street. Arriving patrol officers observed a considerable amount of what appeared to be blood on the back patio of the home as well as what appeared to
be bullet holes in a window. LVMPD SWAT Officers entered the residence and discovered two adult women, an adult male, and a dog deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Another adult male was located in the residence suffering from severe head trauma. That male was transported to the UMC Trauma Center by medical personnel.
The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section into this incident indicates all four victims are related and the shootings are possibly the result of a domestic disturbance. The surviving male, now identified as 54 year old James McCarty, will be arrested and booked in absentia for three counts of Murder with a Deadly Weapon. McCarty will be transported from the UMC Trauma Center to the Clark County Detention Center after recovering from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A booking photo will be sent when available.
The identity of the deceased victims as well as the cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information about these murders is urged to contact the
LVMPD Homicide Section at 828-3521 or to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 385-5555 or on the internet at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
