Las Vegas: Random highway shooting is murder for hire

One Suspect In-custody, Another Still At-large Concerning Attempt Murder Plot

LVMPD detectives have uncovered an apparent murder plot after a local man was shot while driving on the highway north of Las Vegas. On Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at approximately 4:35 am a man called 9-1-1 to report the rear window of his car had been shot out as he drove along I-15 near the Valley of Fire. Shortly thereafter, the man realized that he had been shot.
NHP and medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Doctors discovered that the victim, Robert Bessey had been shot in the head/neck area. Bessey underwent surgery and a bullet was recovered. Mr. Bessey is now undergoing physical therapy and is recovering at his home.
After interviewing the victim and conducting follow up investigation, LVMPD Violent Crimes detectives concluded this was an attempted murder conspiracy. 21-year-old Michael Bessey, the victim’s adopted son, has been arrested for attempted murder.

A second suspect, who is still outstanding, is also related to the victim by marriage. Surveillance footage recovered in the case, shows the suspects at a nearby convenience store shortly before the shooting attack. The second suspect is now known as 39 year old Richard William Pearson- Michael Bessey’s uncle. Pearson is a white male who is 5’6” tall and has a shaved head and blue eyes. A photograph of Pearson accompanies this release.

SUSPECT RICHARD PEARSON ARRESTED
Richard William Pearson, 39 years of age of Las Vegas was identified as the second suspect in this crime. As a result of tips from the community and an investigation conducted by the LVMPD Criminal Apprehension Team, Pearson was taken into
custody on December 12, 2012, at approximately 4:00 p.m. in the 4500 block of Birdsong Way in Las Vegas.
Pearson is currently housed at the Clark County Detention Center where he faces charges of Attempted Murder with Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Battery with a Deadly Weapon Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm and Violation of Conditions of Parole. LVMPD would like to thank its media partners and the Las Vegas community for their

Amy Denise Pearson, 32 years of age of North Las Vegas was identified as the third suspect in this crime. Amy Pearson is the ex-wife of the victim, the mother of arrestee Michael Bessey, and the sister of arrestee Richard Pearson. As a result of the investigation conducted by LVMPD Violent Crimes Detectives, Amy Pearson was arrested on January 4, 2013 and transported to the Clark County Detention Center. She faces charges of Attempt Murder with Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, and Battery with Deadly Weapon Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm.     NOT HER STEP SON…
    Robert Bessey (the victim) adopted Michal Bessey as a small child soon after he married Amy Bessey
