Las Vegas: Suspect shot after firing at officers On Sunday, January 6, 2013 at approximately 4:08 a.m. LVMPD Patrol officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle parked in the 2100 block of Sunrise Avenue. As the officers approached the vehicle they recognized one of the occupants as the suspect in a robbery which occurred on December 29, 2012, in which the victim was shot.As the officers were removing the occupants, the vehicle fled the scene. Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance until it came to a stop in the 600 block of North 12th Street, where a male and female suspect fled on foot in different directions.As arriving patrol officers were attempting to take the suspects into custody, the male suspect fired multiple rounds from a handgun at officers. One officer returned fire striking and injuring the suspect, who was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The second female suspect was apprehended nearby a short time later without incident. No LVMPD Officers were injured in this event.This investigation remains ongoing. The identity of the officer involved in this incident, who has been placed on routine paid administrative leave, will be released after 48 hours.
