National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch for Fl, Ga, SC and The Eastern Seaboard

The National Weather Service, from the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of:

  • Central and Eastern Florida panhandle and North Florida
  • Central and Eastern Georgia
  • Piedmont South Carolina
  • Coastal Waters off the Eastern Seaboard

This is Tornado Watch #23

Effective this Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning from 5:50
PM until 1:00 AM EST.

Tornadoes, with hail to 1 inch in diameter, and thunderstorm wind gusts
to 75 mph, with the possibility of dangerous lightning in these areas.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles east and west of a line from 60 miles north northeast of Columbia South Carolina to 45 miles south southwest of Tallahassee, Florida.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
