Shakira gives birth

Shakira announced the birth on her website in a statement published in English, Spanish and Catalán:

“We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain.

The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.

Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

The hospital confirmed that the couple’s first child weighed approximately 6lbs. 6 ounces, and that both mother and child are in excellent health.

Estamos felices de anunciar el nacimiento de Milan Piqué Mebarak, hijo de Shakira Mebarak y Gerard Piqué, nacido el 22 de Enero a las 21:36 h, en Barcelona, España.

El nombre Milan (se pronuncia MI-lan, la acentuación del nombre recae sobre la primera sílaba), significa querido, lleno de gracia y amoroso en eslavo; en romano antiguo, entusiasta y laborioso; y en sánscrito, unificación.

Como pasó con su padre, desde el momento de nacer, el niño es socio del FC Barcelona.

La clínica informó que el primer hijo de la pareja ha nacido con un peso de casi 3 kilos, y tanto la madre como el bebé, se encuentran en perfecto estado de salud.

La clínica va informar que el primer fill de la parella ha nascut amb un pes de quasi 3 kg, i tant la mare com el nadó es troben en perfecte estat de salut.

After the long wait Sakira and Piqué welcome their first baby in Barcelona, Spain. Milan was born around 21:30 in Spain, a spoke man of the singer confirmed the news, they also confirmed both are in perfect health and that during the delivery only woman were able to assistance with the delivery. Pique was the only male in the room.

The birth was supervised by the famous gynecologic Manolo Garcia-Valdecasas, who was in charge of the birth of the daughters of Cristina, daughter of the royals form Spain. Thousand of paparazzi arrived to the clinic where Shakira and Pique arrived on the Tuesday 22, 2013. They arrived in a black car to start the process of the birth of their baby.

Before entering the clinic the singer twitted “Quiero pedirles que me acompañen con sus oraciones en este día tan importante de mi vida.” “I ask you to accompany me with your prayers in this important day of my life.”
