The Original Cast for The Best Man returning for sequel
It’s official: after almost fifteen years, the cast for the hit film The Best Man are all set to reunite for it’s sequel which is expected to hit theaters as early as November 15, 2013, with Malcolm D Lee at the helm, returning as writer and director.
The original The Best Man grossed $35 million worldwide and opened at number one back when it was released on October 22, 1999. Now, with a script that is under development and a cast that consists of Nia Long, Terrance Howard, Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Regina Hall, Sanaa Lathan, Monica Calhoun, and Melissa Desousa, (all of whom saw their careers rise after the release of
The Best Man), the cast are ready to reprise their roles.
The sequel, which has been rumored to be titled The Best Man: The Bester Man, looks to top the original at the box office by bringing in fans that fell in love with the likes of Jordan, Murch, Candy, Lance and Mia. Now the friends are reunited 15 years later and over the holiday season and they soon realize that old flames and rivalries do not just disappear.
The original movie introduced Taye Diggs’s character, a writer who is to be the best man in his friend’s wedding; but when this “best man” releases his new book, which spills the beans on him sleeping with the bride, tensions rise.
Fans can be sure to expect more drama and bigger laughs when The Best Man 2 hits theaters this November 15.
The Best Man is available now on DVD.
