CHICAGO – Chicago Police arrested a man on parole for burglary as he attempted to flee from a residence on the city’s West Side early Wednesday afternoon. Tavarris White, 20, of the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue was charged with one felony count of Residential Burglary.
On February 6, 2013, at approximately 2:20 pm, Chicago Police officers assigned to the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force were on surveillance in the 1200 block of North Austin Boulevard on an unrelated investigation, when they observed White along with another male exit the front door of a nearby residence. The officers then observed White attempting to conceal a black flat screen television beneath a yellow sheet, before running from the scene. The officers immediately sent a flash message, providing responding officers with a description of White, as well as his direction of flight. A rapid response by Grand Central (025th) District officers in the area led to a brief foot pursuit, resulting in White’s apprehension a short distance away. White was positively identified by officers at the scene and the stolen television, along with other personal items, were subsequently returned to the victim.
