Chicago Police Seize Synthetic Cannabis With A Street Value of More Than 1.2 Million Dollars
CHICAGO – Chicago Police seized nearly two hundred pounds of Synthetic Cannabis with
an estimated street value of more than 1.2 million dollars. Narcotics Officers received information earlier this month regarding nine packages of Synthetic Cannabis with an estimated street value of nearly one and a quarter million dollars that was en route to Chicago.
Officers pursued the tip and discovered the shipment at a predetermined location. A search warrant was obtained and, inside the packages, officers discovered bundles of the synthetic cannabis in shiny silver packages emblazoned with colorful stickers of caricatures. Numerous packages displayed Batman arch nemesis “Joker” with the name in bold green lettering. Additional packages displayed a monkey holding a banana labeled with the words “Monkey Spanker.” The labels clearly pose a danger with the intent to attract young children. Officers are continuing the investigation to learn the origin of the large shipment along with the distributors and recipient(s) of the narcotics.
An Illinois State Law was passed early last year banning the sale of Synthetic Cannabis
and products containing hallucinogenic substances.
