Hedo Turkoglu Suspened 20 Games

hedoyHedo Turkoglu of the Orlando Magic tested positive for the anabolic steroid methenolone. The NBA suspended Turkoglu for 20 games under the leagues drug-testing policy.

The cause of the positive tests says Turkoglu is a medication he took in Turkey this summer to help recover from a shoulder injury. Turkoglu also states he didn’t check the ingredients against the list of banned substances in the NBA.

Unlike other athletes Turkoglu took full responsibility for the positive test. He said he is going to serve his suspension, without an appeal.

Turkoglu said, “As a player this is the worst situation that you want to be in. I’m just sorry to put the organization in this situation, I should have double-checked and researched and shouldn’t be in this situation.”

Turkoglu is making $11.8 million this season while only scoring 2.9 points per game. This is Turkoglu’s second stint with the Magic, and it has been less than an impressive return. Far removed from his 2008 Most Improved Player award while with the Magic. With this suspension and his degraded level of play, finishing out his contract with the Magic seems unlikely.
