Indiana at Ohio State
Present No. 1 team, Indiana, bounced back from a loss to Illinois to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus Sunday, by a final of 81-68.
The Hoosiers had three players who scored 20 points or more; Christian Watford 20, Cody Zeller 24, and Victor Oladipo with a career high 26. The Big Ten leading scorer, Deshaun Thomas added 26 for the Buckeyes.
At the end of the first half, the score was Indiana 41, Ohio State 33. But as the second half began, and Ohio State began by chipping away at the lead, Oladipo made a hook shot, followed by a pull up three pointer to take the lead back up to 9. The Buckeyes were no match for junior guard Oladipo’s athleticism. He dominated both ends of the court. Forward Cody Zeller made 8 of 11 field goals, and 8 of 11 free throws adding to Zeller’s efforts.
Indiana connected on 53 percent of its field goals and knocked down 7 of its 18 attempts from 3-point range — while turning the ball over just nine times.
The convincing win, combined with the fact Indiana has not lost to a top 10 ranked team, may keep them in the number one slot in the top 25 listings.
