Sony PS4 ‘Orbis’ Console Feb. 20 3PM – Watch Live Stream Here: Update
Update Feb. 20, 2013: Watch Live Streaming Sony Press Conference Here at 3PM PST.
The Sony Corporation, makers of the PlayStation line of video gaming products, has plans to unveil their newest model in the PlayStation videogame series, the PS4 console, on February 20, 2013.
This statement may only be conjecture at this point, as Sony continues to expand the rumor mill concerning the launch of the next generation of it’s world famous and highly popular video game console.
Let’s review what we do know about the PS4. The PS4 will allow in game sharing, and is said to come with a dual shock 3 shaped controller as well.
Rumor has it that the PS4 will be named Orbis, and unfortunately the new console will not be backwards compatible with PS3 games. Current specs indicate an AMD X 64 CPU and an AMD Southern Highlands GPU.
The AMD Southern Highlands GPU will allow the PS4 Orbis console to display games in a resolution of up to 4096 X 2160, which is quite a bit over and above the current technology of all HDTV sets. Rumor has it he will also be capable of playing 3-D games in 1080P.
Games will be available on either Blu-ray disc or as a PlayStation network download, where you can play the game, or save the entire game to your HDD, or save it as a downloaded item in your PSN account, allowing you to actually download it at a later date.
Developers are even indicating that PSN users will have to have an always on Internet connection, because you can’t simply buy the disc and stay off-line anymore, you need to have a PSN account and be online to get started with PS4.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, PS4 will be released on February 20, 2013, even though industry insiders and more than a few people who are smarter than me will tell you that it will either be introduced in September or October 2013, just in time for holiday purchases, or even timed to coincide with the next generation Xbox offering.
The price is said to be in the $400 range, but don’t bet on it. My thinking is it will be in the $600 to $700 range initially, with prices falling back just in time for the holidays.
THE PRESS CONFERENCE IS RUNNING A LITTLE LATE, ACCORDING TO SONY CORPORATE. REFRESH YOUR PAGE FROM TIME TO TIME PLEASE.

B, the article never stated that it will released on Feb 20th.
It definitely did:
“I said it before and I’ll say it again, PS4 will be released on February 20, 2013…”
The “always online” thing is a deal-breaker for me. I don’t pirate games or anything, but I also don’t like the idea of someone being able to monitor my game-playing habits. I like having the option to stay offline on my Wii or Xbox 360 if I so choose. Plus, if I’ve read this and a few other articles correctly, then if I had one of these and my ISP had server problems and went down for several hours or even days, I couldn’t play anything because I would lack an Internet connection. And then there’s traveling. I usually like to take a console with me on vacation, in case I get stuck inside due to bad weather or something. Suppose the place I’m at has no available Internet; the PS4 would be a paperweight. So, yeah; much like the PS3, it’s “thanks, Sony, but no thanks”. I’ll once again be giving my money to their competitors and the PS2 Slim will remain the only piece of Sony hardware in my house.
I highly doubt it will release February 20, more than likely we will see an unveiling and a release date set for the holidays of 2013
