Individual Tried to Kill His Girlfriend by Shooting Her in the Face
On February 8, 2013, at approximately 3:30 p.m. LVMPD Officers were in the area of the 4000 block of Pennwood Avenue in Central Las Vegas searching for man wanted in connection with a recent attempted murder. In that case the victim, who was
the suspects’ girlfriend, was shot in the face with a handgun at close range. Officers observed the suspect exit an apartment and walk towards a vehicle parked on Pennwood Avenue where he joined an adult male and female. When the
officers confronted the trio the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the officers. Two officers returned fire. The suspect and the second male were struck by gunfire and transported to an area hospital where the suspect was pronounced deceased. The
female received a superficial injury to a lower extremity in the incident. No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire.
The female was treated at the scene by responding medical personnel and released to LVMPD officers who are questioning her concerning this event. The second male remains in critical condition. LVMPD Detectives are currently attempting to
confirm the identity of these two individuals, and no charges have as yet been filed against them.
The identity of the deceased suspect, and the exact cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with any information concerning this case is urged to
