DWP Telephone Customer Scam

What: News conference to inform Department of Water and Power (DWP) customers about ongoing telephone scams.

When: Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Where: LAPD Police Administration Building (PAB) (PAB Plaza-in front of the building) 100 West First Street Los Angeles, Calif. 90012

Who: Los Angeles Police Commander Andy Smith Patrick K. Findley, DWP Director of Security

Why: On February 6, 2013, LAPD and DWP wants to report the scams involving impostors posing as utility personnel, contacting customers by telephone, informing them they are behind in payment of their bill, and threatening immediate service termination as a means of forcing the customer into remitting payment for a fictional account balance.
