Despite its great success, Banda El Recodo has undergone a complicated streak in recent months. Alfonso “Poncho” Lizarraga, a leader of the band, has not been recovered. When a few weeks ago, he got another relapse that force him to leave the stage one more time.
“There have been two types of relapse,” said his brother Joel Lizarraga, during a brief interview minutes before the presentation they gave in Anaheim two weeks ago.
“It was physical relapse, the pain of his body for the effort,” explained the leader.
“And as is my brother, who does not like to fail nor externalize his body circumstances his body not-well, he doesn’t like to complain he’s been keeping lots of things came to be seen again without being able to have a lot of activity, it affected him emotionally.”
Poncho Lizarraga, who also plays the clarinet, was the only one of the group who had severe injuries sustained in an accident last August in Texas, and now has resumed its recovery physical therapy, according to his brother.
He said his comeback would gradually.
“The medical advice is that you have to be back in therapy and when he returns to the band, will have to be gradually,” he said. “And not in the way he did, to go with all that is too heavy. Their presentations will be paused and, for now, he can not be on the tour.”
Banda El Recodo has begun an intense working trip to the United States, to be presented in Los Angeles that until now still do not have a date set. Banda el Recode will share the stage with singer Gerardo Ortiz-solo Voz Manto, among other groups.
Never the lest Poncho Lizarraga was not the only one missing from the group.
Last October, nearly two months after the accident where other band members were also injured, was announced the temporary abandonment of Luis Alfonso Partida “The Yaqui,” one of the main voices.
“It’s always difficult for a band when their vocalist leader are gone, because in addition to his music, the vocal is what identifies a group,” said Joel, the youngest son of the dynasty Lizarraga.
In December 2011, Partida had surgery on his vocal cords, he returned to the band and had to leave again in April last year.
In October 2012, “The Yaqui” was eliminated in the International Cervantes Festival in Guanajuato, and in September, the band announced that the singer would leave the group temporarily.
“The process of recovery of ‘The Yaqui’, as has been neither he nor as we expected and the show must go on. Leaving on, for several months, only to Charly but he needed another vocalist”.
The musician, however, said he would wait for the young singer, recovers.
