More March MADNESS, Wisconsin Stuns No. 3 Michigan

Will It Ever End?

NCAA Basketball: Iowa at WisconsinThis morning, Saturday, the Wisconsin Badgers upset the No. 3 ranked Michigan Wolverines at home.  A decisive win could have placed Michigan in the No. 1 spot in the NCAA standings thanks to an Indiana loss to Illinois Thursday.  A clutch 3 pointer by Tim Hardaway, Jr., put the Wolverines up by three points.  Badger Ben Brust heaved a half-court shot that found the net with seconds winding down, and the game went to overtime.

In overtime, the score was tied at 62 when Brust hit another three pointer with 43 seconds left.  Hardaway and Trey Burke had good looks on Michigan’s next two possessions, but were unable to get them to go.  The final score, Wisconsin 65, Michigan 62.

This season has been dominated by two notable statistics, the number of  games won by “buzzer beaters”, and the rotation of the No. 1 ranking.

If No. 2, Florida can win at home against Mississippi State, they should rise to the top of the 25.  If not, No. 4 Duke plays tomorrow.  Stay tuned.
