Second Pistorius Facing Homicide Charges

Oscar Pistorius' Brother to Also Face Homicide Charges

Oscar Pistorius will be the center of media interest, but his brother, Carl, is facing “Culpable Homicide” charges.  His trial was to begin last Thursday, but he asked the court to postpone it because Oscar was involved in hearings regarding his bail request.

Carl Pistorius is accused in the 2010 death of a female motorcyclist, Pistorius family attorney Kenny Oldwage said.

Culpable homicide refers to “unlawful negligent killing,” South African police say.

Prosecutors claim Carl was driving recklessly in the daytime when he collided with a motorcycle.  Alcohol and drugs were not a factor.  The female died in the hospital a couple of days after the accident.

His trial will begin at the end of March, and could be over before his brother Oscar’s begins.

“Carl deeply regrets the accident. Blood tests conducted by the police at the time proved that he had not been under the influence of alcohol, confirming that it was a tragic road accident after the deceased collided with Carl’s car,” a statement from the Pistorius family said.

GIven the seemingly murderous culture in this family–with typically female victims, one has to ask what really happened to Oscar’s mother? Is her death just simply an “allergic reaction” or did something more sinister happen?
