A Great Show
I have to write a short story praising the Super Bowl entertainment yesterday. I’m not talking about Beyonce and her halftime show. Beyonce was Beyonce, you like her or you don’t. It was okay, but she’s no Michael Jackson.
I’m referring to the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir from Newtown, and Jennifer Hudson. Having them sing “America the Beautiful” was both charming and heartwarming.
I, like many others, have always thought that the song would have been a better ‘national anthem’. It praises the beauty of our country, instead of glorifying war. Jennifer Hudson’s voice did it great justice. She put a lump in my throat.
I also thought that Alicia Keys did a terrific job with her stylized version of the “Star Spangled Banner”. Having her and her piano, with no other accompaniment was dignified and very pleasant.
I just realized something. The lights went out right after halftime. You think it had anything to do with all those flashing lights in the halftime show?
