Scout leaders decided to extend time frame for decision to accept gays

When Will We Be Able To Eliminate The Word “Homophobia” From Our Nation?

The Boy Scouts of America, who announced they were considering lifting a ban on inclusion of openly gay scouts, and scout leaders, has decided to extend the time frame for their decision by three months.

Polls show Americans are in favor of the change by a 55-31 margin.  However, influenced by extreme right wing religious groups in states like Texas and Utah, it appears Scout leadership is re-considering their decision.

Well, let me tell you something that homophobes are in denial of in organizations throughout the country.  They’re already there.  Your “gaydar” is simply broken.

Religious organizations who are anti-gay, are also anti-Christian.  They are in violation of the core of Christ’s doctrine, that all men are created equal, and to love one another as you love yourself.  Extreme right wing Christians conveniently forget stories such as the “temple money changers”, or His lesson about the lepers.  Why in the 21st century anyone is still afraid of homosexuals completely befuddles me.  You can’t “catch it”.  They won’t force their lifestyle on you.  All they want is what you have.  Okay, I get it.  That’s the answer.  You are better than they are.  You don’t want them to be considered equal to you.  They’re “queers”, “fags”, “homos”, and unnatural.  If you accepted them, you couldn’t belittle them anymore, and would lose your macho superiority.

You are the same people who in your own heart, in the privacy of your home, talk and feel that way about African-Americans.  The Mormon Church, which owns the state of Utah, does not allow Black men to hold the “priesthood” in their church.  They are considered inferior to do so.  And women are instructed to be subservient to men.

The word in our Constitution “equality” actually means equal.  The problem is, I don’t think I’ll live long enough to see it “granted” to everyone.
