Yucaipa: Tour Bush Crash 3 dead, 27 injured

Multiple people died after been ejected from a tour bus on Sunday after collided with a truck in Yucaipa. Authorities say that at lease 3 people were killed and 27 injured. Details were sketchy, but firefighters from multiple agencies responded to an area off Highway 38 and Bryant Street (MAP) about 6:30 p.m.

At least two passengers are also reportedly trapped in the wreckage. Eleven others are described as “walking wounded.” The initial reports said that as many as 10 people may have been killed when they were ejected from a bus. But the California Highway Patrol had yet to confirm the number.

Stu Mundel, reporting in KCAL9, said the crash involved a wrong-way driver, believed to be the pickup truck. CalFire and San Bernardino County and Monrovia Police are reportedly on scene.

Witnesses said a bus hit a truck and rolled down an embankment, possibly clipping other cars. Firefighters were setting up triage areas. Multiple people were airlifted to hospitals.
The crash occurred between Redlands and Yucaipa. County Fire has reportedly asked for 15 ambulances to respond to the scene.

Caltrans officials were closing a section of Highway 38 between Bryant and Forest Falls.
Eric Sherwin of the San Bernardino County Fire Department said there were 27 injuries ranging from minor to life threatening.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies shut down the north and southbound lanes of Highway 38.
